McLeod Drilling Rig Logistics
Specialists in Safety and Efficiency
Brain power. Not just crane power.
The thing about moving a drilling rig is that it doesn't happen in a distant office, or in a spreadsheet. It happens on the ground. It sounds obvious. But it’s a crucial distinction. You can be safe and efficient in a spreadsheet. You need to be safe and efficient onsite. That’s where our expertise matters. In both environments. In detailed project scheduling charts. And amidst the complexities and physical disruption of a rig shift. Sure, we’re experienced in the hard practicalities. But we’re equally experienced in careful, comprehensive planning. We detail this experience - derived from every rig move we've done, and individualised to every rig - in fully itemised and scheduled Gant charts. Wherever it adds value, we also employ 3D lift planning using AutoCad. We draw all this experience together in specialist, knowledgeable, flexible, responsive support. What you need, what this rig, this moment needs, is exactly what we deliver. And we underpin everything with unswerving attention to safety. It’s an area where our investment, our unremitting focus, our national awards, are all but unmatched. In total, it’s why McLeod Drilling Rig Logistics is the preferred name in the sector. In customer offices. And out on site. It's what true specialisation is about. |
We plan thoroughly. So we can react quickly.
How long should we allow to bring the derrick down, get it loaded, shifted and unloaded? How long does it take to get the substructure, those tanks, these containers, ready to lift and onto flat-beds? How many days for the whole move? What’s the best order of loading? The best order for unloading? Every rig move’s different. But there are broad sequences. Move after move, we record every action, every sequence, in comprehensive spreadsheets. We share these with the ultimate customer, rig managers, tool pushers. It's basic groundwork. Simply, we aim to be fully prepared, fully informed before we start. Then we merge our planning with yours. Our planning isn’t rigid. Nothing can be in such a complex operation. We need flexibility and we need to anticipate, and react to, change. Merging means being constantly ready to adapt, to alter a sequence, shift focus, add or reduce resources as necessary. It means we're fully responsive once we’re underway. What we plan for is the most efficient use of every crane, every vehicle, each individual, every minute on site. At the same time, we know we’re not in control of the project. We’re a service supplier. So we emphasise constant referral, sharing of knowledge, thinking together, making sure every step fits in with the next one. And after every move, or before the next one, we bring our Gant charts back to our clients. So, together, we’re fully able to assess and improve anything for the next rig move. |
